The short answer
Pit Stop Roadside Services plugs small tread punctures where the car is parked across Dallas, 24/7. Call (214) 367-5302 and describe where the nail or screw sits. Only punctures in the tread, no wider than 1/4 inch, can be plugged; sidewall and shoulder damage can't. A roadside plug is temporary, so have a tire shop repair the tire from the inside. A technician typically arrives in 30–45 minutes.

What's included in a roadside tire plug
Temporary roadside plugs cover cars, SUVs, pickups, vans, light-duty work trucks and fleet vehicles; heavy-duty and semi-truck tires aren't part of this service.
- Finding the puncture and confirming it's in the tread, not the shoulder or sidewall
- We only plug small punctures in the tread; damage outside USTMA's repair limits is never plugged.
- A temporary roadside plug for a small puncture in the tread, so you can drive on your own tire instead of the spare. Have a tire shop repair the tire from the inside soon after.
- The tire aired back up to the pressure on your door label
- A plain answer if the tire can't be saved, with a used or new replacement tire quoted by the dispatcher
- An itemized receipt that lists the repair
When a temporary plug is the right call
- You can see a nail or screw head in the tread, the part of the tire that touches the road
- One tire keeps losing air and needs topping up every few days
- The tire pressure light came on and one tire reads lower than the rest
- The hole is small and sits in the tread, away from the edge and the sidewall
- The tread is still deeper than 2/32 inch, the point at which NHTSA says a tire should be replaced
When it's not a roadside fix
Sidewall or shoulder damage, a puncture over 1/4 inch or worn-out tread can't be repaired; the dispatcher can quote a used or new tire instead. A bent or cracked wheel is shop work: if you describe one, the dispatcher tells you before anyone drives out.
Park it, don't push it
A tire that keeps going soft is worth stopping for. NHTSA warns that poor tire care, including running on too little air, can lead to a blowout or the tread coming off. Pull off somewhere level and well away from traffic and call, rather than pressing on. If you're stuck beside I-30 or another busy highway, stay buckled in with your hazards on.
How a roadside tire plug works
-
Tell us what's in the tire
Call and say what you see: a nail or screw head in the tread, a slow leak, or a tire that has gone flat. Mention it if you have run-flat tires. The dispatcher quotes the price and a typical ETA before anyone drives out.
-
The technician checks the damage
In your driveway, an office lot or a safe spot well off the road, the technician finds the puncture and checks where it sits and how big it is. A hole in the shoulder or sidewall, or one wider than 1/4 inch, is not repairable.
-
Plug and air
A small tread puncture gets a temporary plug to seal the hole. The tire is aired up to the pressure on your door label before the technician leaves. Have a tire shop repair the tire from the inside soon after.
-
Drive off on your own tire
Your spare never leaves the trunk, so it's still there for the next flat. You already paid on the call, so keep the itemized receipt and plan a stop at a tire shop to have the tire repaired from the inside.
How much does a roadside tire plug cost in Dallas?
The dispatcher gives you one total on the phone, and that's what you pay for the job you described. You pay Pit Stop Roadside Services LLC on the call once you've heard the price and the arrival time and said yes, before a technician is sent.
If plans change: refunds and fees
- Before you payYou hear one total and the arrival time. Say no and it costs nothing.
- Within 5 minutes of payingCancel for a full refund.
- Until the technician arrivesAfter that, you can still cancel and pay only the $35 to $75 service fee. The rest is refunded.
- At the carDone as described, the quote is all you pay. Can't be finished for a reason outside our control? The service fee replaces the price and the rest is refunded.
If we can't get a technician to you, or can't finish because of something on our side, you get a full refund. The dispatcher tells you the exact fee for your job before you pay.
If the job changes, can't be finished or isn't safe
- If the job changes
- If the job is different from what you described, you hear the new price before any extra work. Say no, and we finish what was quoted if we can; if we can't, the service fee applies and the rest is refunded.
- If it can't be finished
- If the reason is outside our control (the car needs a mechanic, the details given weren't right, or nobody is at the vehicle), a $35 to $75 service fee replaces the price and the rest is refunded. The dispatcher tells you the exact fee for your job before you pay.
- If the spot isn't safe
- If the spot you describe isn't one we can work in safely, the dispatcher tells you before you pay. If the technician finds at the car that it can't be done safely, for example in a live traffic lane, and the car can't be moved somewhere safer, the job can't be finished for a reason outside our control: the $35 to $75 service fee applies and the rest is refunded.

What the price depends on
- How many punctures need repair and how many tires they're in
- Your vehicle and its tires, from a sedan to a pickup, van or light-duty work truck
- Whether a locking lug nut has to come off before the wheel can
- Where you are and the drive time to reach you
- A late-night call far from our Dallas base, which can cost more
Tire repair: questions people ask
Can you fix a nail in my tire where I'm parked?
Yes, with a temporary roadside plug, if the nail is in the tread and the hole is small. Pit Stop doesn't plug damage outside the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association's repair limits, such as a hole wider than 1/4 inch or one reaching the shoulder. After the plug, drive straight to a tire shop to have the tire repaired from the inside. Call (214) 367-5302.
Can you repair a puncture in the sidewall?
No. USTMA says repairs must stay in the tread area and must never reach into the shoulder, and a tire with any doubt about that has to be taken out of service. A sidewall or shoulder puncture means a replacement tire. Pit Stop can install a used or new tire where you're parked once the dispatcher confirms your size, what's in stock and the price on the call.
Is a tire plug a permanent repair?
No. USTMA doesn't consider a plug alone a proper repair. That's why ours is temporary: drive it straight to a tire shop to have it repaired from the inside. USTMA's guidance for a permanent repair is to take the tire off the wheel, inspect it inside, and seal it with a plug and a patch. If the puncture can't be plugged, the dispatcher can quote a used or new tire installed where you're parked.
How much does mobile tire repair cost in Dallas?
The Pit Stop dispatcher prices your roadside plug on the phone before anyone heads your way, and that's what you pay for the job you described. It depends on how many punctures there are, your vehicle and your location. Have a lower written quote for the same service and vehicle from another roadside company serving your location? Tell the dispatcher before a technician is sent, send a copy the way the dispatcher asks, and Pit Stop matches it.
Can you repair a run-flat tire?
It depends on the tire. USTMA notes that some tire makers set repair limits or restrictions for run-flat tires, so their rules decide whether a repair is allowed. Tell the Pit Stop dispatcher you have run-flats, and the tire brand if you know it, when you call (214) 367-5302.
Should I repair the tire or just put the spare on?
If the puncture is small and in the tread, a temporary Pit Stop plug puts you back on your own tire and leaves the spare in the trunk, though a tire shop should still repair the tire from the inside. If the damage is in the sidewall or shoulder, the tire can't be repaired, and a spare change or a replacement tire is the way to get moving.
When does a tire need replacing instead of a repair?
NHTSA says a tire should be replaced once its tread is worn to 2/32 inch. USTMA also rules out repairs on punctures wider than 1/4 inch, damage reaching the shoulder, repairs that would overlap an earlier one, and tires with an existing improper repair. In those cases Pit Stop can quote a used or new tire installed where you're parked.
While you wait
- Get out of traffic. If the car still rolls, ease onto the shoulder, the next exit ramp or a parking lot.
- Hazards on. Turn on your flashers. At night, keep your parking lights on too.
- Stay clear of the lanes. On a highway, stay buckled in the car or stand well behind the guardrail. Never between the car and traffic.
- Keep your phone free. The dispatcher may call back to confirm the spot. Keep the line open and the phone charged.
